Despite the post-apocalyptic (or post-societal, as the game puts it) setting there are no deathclaws or mole rats here, but there are plenty of wolves and bears to ensure that weapons and traps are another essential category of item to craft and maintain. When it was first released on Xbox One and PC in 2016 we assumed The Flame In The Flood was all about surviving an ordinary flood in North America, with a setting that, for us at least, recalled O Brother, Where Art Thou? But it’s actually a post-apocalyptic game, with developer The Molasses Flood boasting a team that’s worked on games as diverse as BioShock, Halo 2, and Rock Band.Īesop will bark to make you aware of harvestable items, from plants to crow feathers, while the detritus of the old world, and the odd steam trunk, often contain loot-able items.
